The Settlement of Newfoundland

Newfoundland! Giovanni Caboto was an Italian merchant from Genoa and as a young man learnt the secret where Portuguese whalers and fisherman were catching their seafood out on the the western ocean in the mid 1400’s. Giovanni met with Queen Isabella of Spain but she turned him down since she was already supporting a young man by the name of Christopher! The Brits however gave him two ships and sailors for the expedition if he changed his name to John Cabot! He came ashore here in Newfoundland in 1497. Come and experience hiking, or a small bus tour for ten people in 2019 in this most easterly maritime province in North America.
